Who operates Radar

See the operator and contact details. This policy covers the Radar app, its public website and these policy pages.

Information and purposes

• Phone number, verification and session information: sign-in, account security and preventing abuse. Session records may include IP address and device/browser information. Your phone number is not shown on profiles.
• Nickname, date of birth, optional bio and up to six photos: an adult profile and social features. Other users see your age, not your date of birth. We strip uploaded photo metadata. Photos have public, unguessable URLs; anyone who obtains a URL can view it.
• Precise foreground location: finding nearby messages after you choose to enable location. Radar sends coordinates to its server. Other users receive a range label, not coordinates, but proximity can reveal that you are nearby. No background location permission is requested.
• Radar posts, selected channels, friendships and direct messages: delivering the conversations you initiate. DMs are not end-to-end encrypted. Do not put sensitive personal information in your bio or messages.
• Blocks and reports, including reported profile snapshots and your report notes: enforcing community safety. Reports are private to the operator.
• If you opt into push: device push token, platform and session binding. Expo and Google/Apple notification services receive routing data and generic alert content. Alert data contains account identifiers, but not message text or coordinates.
• Complimentary Plus grant status and update date: administering free account benefits. Email requests are processed through the support mailbox.
• If web billing is enabled: payment-provider customer/subscription identifiers and status. Stripe handles payment details on its own checkout; Radar does not store card numbers.

Legal bases

Account and conversation processing is necessary to provide the service you request. Security, abuse prevention and handling reports rely on legitimate interests, balanced against your rights. Optional location and push features are enabled by your choice and device permission; you can withdraw permission in device settings. We process records required by applicable law to meet legal obligations. We do not request blanket consent to all processing.

Recipients and international processing

Profile information and messages are shared with the people the feature makes them available to. Hosting/database providers process service data; an SMS provider must process phone numbers and codes when real SMS delivery is configured. Optional push uses Expo and Google/Apple; optional web payments use Stripe. These services may process data outside your country. Before public launch the operator must document the actual providers, processing locations and applicable transfer safeguards. There is no advertising or analytics SDK configured in this version, and no sale of personal data.

Retention

Live position is held in memory during use and for up to five minutes away. Radar posts expire from view after 15 minutes; their coordinates are then erased. Radar rows are deleted after 48 hours. DMs remain until the friendship is removed, either user blocks the other, or an account is deleted. Profile, relationship and report records remain until account deletion; related records cascade when their account is removed. Push jobs expire after 24 hours and registrations are removed on session/account deletion or opt-out. Authentication expiry is enforced by the server; expiry does not by itself promise physical removal of every expired database row.

Account deletion removes associated live database records. Payment providers may retain records under their own legal obligations, and recipients may keep downloaded copies. Hosting logs and backup retention must be confirmed for the production deployment before this policy is approved.

Your choices and rights

In Profile > Privacy & safety you can export data, manage blocks and delete your account. See deletion requests without the app. Contact contact@radar-nearby.com to request access, correction (including an incorrect birthday), erasure, restriction, portability or to object to processing based on legitimate interests. We may request proportionate proof of account ownership, never your password or sign-in code by email. You may complain to your local data-protection authority. Radar is for adults aged 18 or over and does not perform automated legal or similarly significant decisions about you.
